Harris fundraiser still going strong 16 years on

This year’s tournament raised a fantastic £6668 though some money is still coming in, with 34 teams (102 players) taking part in the competition.
 
The money will be valuably used to fund initiatives such as: music therapy, gift sets, art trolleys, make-up for teens, ward entertainers, family celebration days, LEGO Club, ward resources, memory casts, much needed research and more.

The positive feedback received relating to what they provide for children and young people going through treatment tells the Ross family how welcomed these items are and is further motivation for planning the next event.

The  Newcastle University Centre for Cancer, whom the Star for Harris charity also supports, do incredible work in looking at improved treatment options and value every bit of support they receive.

Allan said: "I’m not sure that we can put into words how grateful we are to everyone who supported this year’s Harris Ross Texas Scramble.

"A huge thank you to the generous businesses and individuals who supported this fundraiser through financial or gift donation, and to everyone who bought raffle tickets or bid in the auction.

"Thank you so so much also to our trustees and team of helpers who enable us to run this golf competition, and to Fort William Golf Club and May at the Wok Inn for hosting us.

"A huge shout out to our amazing golfers who bring along so much craic and warmth, and it’s heart warming seeing many of the same players returning each year.

"We owe a very special thank you to the wonderful Cal Brown who not only had the green looking in great condition and helped ensure everything was set up for the day, but he also very thoughtfully added Harris’s name to the bunker on the 18th which was a very touching tribute that  we personally were deeply moved by.
