Local talent shines at Mid Argyll Art Show
Ardrishaig played host to a successful art showcase, with event organisers praising the variety and talent on display.
The Mid Argyll Art Show ran from July 28 to August 3, showcasing work by local artists, including a special display from the Mid Argyll Photography Club and new exhibitors Alasdair MacDonald, David Campbell and Eilidh Litster.
Organiser Alison Litster described the exhibition as "absolutely beautiful", adding that sales had remained strong despite slightly lower visitor numbers than last year.
Alison said: "We’ve had a lot of sales, some sales today as well, which was really good. But the variety that came in this year has been good as well, and the two new artists added their own flavour.
"The comments in the visitors’ book have been really positive, so it has made a wee impression on folk, and the comments have been really, really positive.
"It’s what the community tells us, and that’s why we run it, because they don’t get to exhibit anywhere else."
Funds raised during the week-long exhibition will be reinvested into next year’s event, something Alison said is essential to ensure the show can continue.
She added: "All the expenses that we put out – hiring the hall, the upkeep of the boards, which are very, very old now – it is just continuous upkeep.
"We’re not a charity and we’re not saving for anything, but it is all literally just to run each year and showcase the good talents that are on show."
The showcase was free to attend, with volunteers on hand throughout the week to welcome visitors and show them around Ardrishaig’s North Hall.
