Argyll South Pony Club holds Combined Challenge

Nearest to the calculated optimum time was the deciding factor for those with clear rounds. 

The competition, on Sunday, August 23, was open to adult riders too, making for a busy day with 18 competitors. 

A lot of work went into building the cross country element with many new fences such as the Big Log, the Minions’ Mound and even a steps jump built into the hill. 

Lots of stewards and judges were required for the various fences and it was lovely to see so many former members, and their parents, of yesteryear bringing their expertise to help on the day.

Spectators had a very good view of the finish as they enjoyed their teas and home baking and every competitor was treated to a rousing cheer as they came over the last brush fence and galloped through the finish. 

The prizegiving saw the four splendid horse head trophies, crafted by Midton Acrylics, awarded to the smiling winners. 

Thanks are due to Sheila MacCallum for the inimitable venue and to all the helpers and competitors who made it such a fun and memorable day. The club looks forward to seeing everyone again next year.
