An interactive game which encourages adults and children to walk, run, cycle or scooter to collect points has taken Arran by storm - with all seven local schools competing to win the most points.
The game, from Beat the Street Active Nation, is taking place on Arran and in Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Stevenston, Dalry, Beith, Glengarnock, Kilbirnie, Helensburgh, Dunoon, Rothesay, Argyll and Bute and Campbeltown until March 27.
Since it was launched in North Ayrshire, more than 5,100 participants have signed up to take part. So far, they have cumulatively walked, cycled and rolled their way to nearly 10,000 miles.
The fun competition encourages the community to ditch the car and consider active travel.
Players can join a school, community or workplace team with prizes including book tokens and sports equipment for teams and individuals on offer. There is also an individual leader board and lucky spot prizes just for taking part.
For schools and community teams, there is a total points leaderboard and an average leaderboard, so teams of all sizes can win prizes.
On Arran, Shiskine Primary School is currently leading the way with 272.95 points. Whiting Bay Primary School has 271.57; Kilmory has 227.5; Brodick has 185.05; Lamlash has 156; Corrie has 113.33 and Pirnmill, the smallest school, has 60 points.
To play, players need a card which can be collected from one of the distribution centres listed at www.beatthestreet.me/ActiveNation or alternatively, players aged over 13 can download the free Beat the Street app to play the game on their phone.
Beat the Street Active Nation is delivered by Intelligent Health in partnership with North Ayrshire Council and Argyll and Bute Council. It is funded by Paths for All’s Active Nation Fund.
