And Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) plans to roll the new system out across all Argyll and Bute hospitals within the next 12 months.
The upgraded innovative model of telephony software has advanced functionality to improve callers' experience and reduce telephone contract service costs, says the HSCP.
The IVR system is an automated call management system that allows incoming callers to access services via a touch-tone keypad selection of pre-recorded messages.
It is hoped the telephony system will quickly and seamlessly address people's inquiries and reduce hold times.
Staff should benefit from having more productive hours to complete their daily tasks and guarantee hospital visitors entering and exiting the hospital will be managed more effectively.
'Our absolute priority is to improve our services,' said Emma King-Venables, interim area manager for Kintyre and Islay. 'I am really pleased the system will further offer callers a faster responsive experience.
'The modern technology will benefit our busy receptionists too, by helping to improve their time management during hospital high volume call and footfall times.'
Preparation work is taking place to ensure the transition to the new system goes smoothly and without disruption.
The telephone number for Campbeltown Hospital remains the same 01586 552224.
