Inveraray Shinty Club has received a £900-plus cash boost from its local Co-op.
The money, which was raised for the club by Co-op members voting it as their chosen cause for the year, will be used to support local youngsters wishing to become involved in shinty.
Club Treasurer Drew Anderson said: “The bulk of this money will be going to support pupils in the local primary school to practise and play shinty.
“It is so important that they have this opportunity at a young age and the club is delighted that the local Co-op is continuing to support us in this way.”
Jack Coggins, Inveraray Co-op store manager, added: “The Co-op is pleased to be part of and to support the local community.
“I would encourage any groups looking, for example, for raffle prizes or refreshments for an event, to call in store for a chat.”
He added: “We can also offer small grants of up to £150 for activities that fit our criteria of fair access to food, support for good mental health, creating opportunities for young people or environmental projects.”
The £900 is an interim payment with the final payment being made in October.
The second cause supported in Inveraray is the Simpsons Memory Box, which supports families who have lost a young child.
