Arran Development Trust (ADT) is consulting with landowners across the island as part of its research into establishing sites suitable for affordable housing.
The trust, which is responsible for the 18 affordable rental homes being built at Rowarden and the upcoming 23 serviced self-build plots at Hall’s Field in Lamlash, still wants to speak to interested parties in the hope of increasing the scope of its research.
Potential affordable housing sites currently being expolored are in Blackwaterfoot, Brodick, Lamlash, Lochranza and Whiting Bay.
Sheena Borthwick-Toomey, operations director at ADT said: “ADT will continue to conduct due diligence work on all sites presented in order for the ADT board to take a qualified evidential based recommendation.
"This work will include, but is not restricted to, liaison with North Ayrshire Council’s planning department, grant funding/private finance availability, services and utilities availability. Once the results have been analysed, ADT will present the findings to the community and all interested parties to inform the final decision-making process.
“It is anticipated all due diligence work pertaining to the Blackwaterfoot and Shiskine sites in particular will be completed by summer 2024. From ADT research, based upon independent housing need analysis, these areas have been identified among some of the ‘most preferred’ places to live by the community."
Anyone with land that may be deemed suitable for affordable housing can get in touch with ADT at www.discoverarran.co.uk or directly via email to sheena.borthwick.aeg@gmail.com.
