Taynuilt trials rider Euan Sim has topped the podium in his first two outings of the British Youth Trials Championship 2024.
The opening two rounds were hosted by one of the UK’s oldest trials clubs, Surrey Schoolboys, at Hookwood Trials Centre, West Horsley, at the top of the Surrey Hills.
Having just signed for Sherco UK, Euan, 15, made his debut appearance at the British event onboard the ST Factory 125 which performed superbly.
Club officials had many challenges to overcome but they kept smiling.
The course was set out in dry conditions and looked superb on the Friday evening, well marked out with new flags and tape. But following six hours of heavy overnight rain, there were streams running through the wood on the Saturday and it was hard enough to stand and walk, let alone ride a bike through it.
As always in motorcycle trials the riders, including Euan, just got on with it and credit goes to all the competitors, officials and spectators for doing just that.
The Scottish Sherco rider was in brilliant form in the Senior Youth A class, showing everyone how to ride the rocks and big tree obstacles so familiar of Hookwood.
Euan took the win both days, well ahead of his other competitors, dropping only 69 points on the Saturday compared to the second place rider dropping 128 and on Sunday taking the win on 50 points with his closest rival on 90.
Rounds three and four are being held on May 18 and 19, when Euan will travel to Scarborough.
Euan would like to thank James Fry and Emma Bristow of Sherco UK and Off Road Moto for the chance to be part of such an amazing team as well as all his other sponsors who make it possible to travel to events: Aquawash, ABC4D Drainage supplies, Argyll Building Contractor, Colin Sloss Deer Control, Sinclair Plant & Contracting, Flit Oban, Scott Robertson Accident Repairs, Coastal Campers, Highland Temporary Works, Lochaber Trials Club, Loch Lomond Motorcycle Club, 7even Construction Ltd, Pea Farm Off Road Centre and The Robin’s Nest tearoom in Taynuilt.
