Kintyre Schools Pipe Band performers and volunteers are preparing for a busy schedule at this year’s Mull of Kintyre Music Festival (MOKFest) which runs from August 21-25.
Their first performance will be at the Young Folk Night on Thursday, August 22, before they perform at the head of the Old Quay on the Friday evening prior to marching into the Victoria Hall to open this year’s Festival Ceilidh.
On Saturday, August 24, the band will lead the Festival Grand Parade through the streets of Campbeltown before opening Doon the Green on Kinloch Green.
And on Sunday, August 25, the band makes a welcome return to Kilkerran Survivors Night following a fantastic performance at last year’s concert. The concert will also feature Slainte Davaar Allstars and we.R.soul, with more acts still to be announced.
A spokesman for the festival said: “Once again, we are delighted to have Kintyre Schools Pipe Band performing at so many of our concerts and events this year. Their performance at last year’s Kilkerran Survivors Night was exceptional and we can’t wait to see what they have lined up for us this year.
“It is no surprise that both Kintyre Schools Pipe Band and Campbeltown Brass have won so many national and international competitions as there are so many talented and dedicated musicians and tutors in both bands.”
The five-day festival has seven ticketed concerts headlined by artists including Trail West, Dougie MacLean, Katie Macfarlane, Grouse Ceilidh Band, The Canny Band, The Sarachs and Slainte Davaar Allstars.
Tickets for all concerts are available online at www.mokfest.com – where there is more information about the festival – or locally from AP Taylor on Campbeltown’s Main Street.
