Artists in Tobermory on Mull have come up an Easter treat for visitors to the island.
One of the organising artists is Aska from The Picture Gallery on the seafront, who is getting ready to welcome people.
The artists will be happy to chat about how they get inspiration from the island for their work.
They will give presentations and an insight into their creative practice, giving people a first-hand experience of what makes artists tick.
"This is a great opportunity to take a journey around the outstanding scenery of North Mull, while soaking up the culture, visiting artists and craftspeople in their studios and galleries," said Aska adding the map trail will also be a great way of encouraging people to explore other parts of the picturesque town.
"Tobermory is one of the most picturesque towns in the Hebrides, famous for its brightly coloured houses surrounding the horseshoe bay, with a great choice of excellent eateries, artisan shops, attractions and scenic walks. There is so much to bring people here but we’re hoping the Open Studios will add extra value," said Aska whose work along with Ronnie Leckie’s will be at The Picture Gallery.
Ronnie arrived on Mull in 1975 setting up a business screenprinting greeting cards - his work reached far and wide including Macy’s in New York, Liberty and Harrod’s London.
Art and craft teacher Donna Margaret Hutchinson sailed into Tobermory Bay 40 years ago on a tall ship, and instantly fell in love with the place. Exploring and playing with various media, including ceramics ,textiles, watercolour, and oils you will be able to see some of her work on show at The Western Isles Hotel during the weekend.
Also at that venue will be Ian McMillan, known as The Rope Guy, and winner of the Mull Highland Games Art Award 2023 who moved from Newcastle to Ulva Island in January 2022 where he discovered creating art from untangling metres of old lobster creel rope found washed up on the shore.
Faith Holmes takes her inspiration ,mainly using watercolours and oils, from everyday scenes and "working" Mull, she will also be at The Western Isles Hotel.
Born in Finland, Botanical painter Nina Tans’ work will be on view at The Gallery Loft, while originally from California Karina Alexander who took up drawing and painting again after moving to Mull in 2019 to marry her soulmate, will be at Glenelg.
