Warm spring sunshine and a host of fun, family-friendly activities helped to attract a bumper crowd to this year’s annual Easter at the Castle event.
National Trust for Scotland (NTS) hosted four days of Easter egg trails over the extended Easter weekend, while Arran NTS rangers organised activities on Easter Sunday.
The day started with families searching for clues among the garden trails to complete a scorecard which, when completed, could be exchanged for a chocolate treat.
Later, children and adults enjoyed Easter egg decorating under a large marquee in the garden.
Mid-afternoon, as the sunshine reached its peak and the castle grounds filled with visitors, it was time for the races.
These included egg-and-spoon, three-legged races, sack, wheelbarrow and running races. There was also a dog race.
All the races were separated into age categories, including one for adults, and prizes were awarded for winners and runners-up.
Parents and peers cheered on their friends and siblings and the sound of laughter and excitement echoed around the castle grounds down to the village below.
After the excitement of the races, the Easter bonnet parade took place with prizes awarded for the best bonnets on show. The Easter bunny visited the castle and led the children around the ring for the parade.
The day culminated in the duck derby which saw scores of numbered table tennis balls hurled down the castle steps, with the three balls reaching the furthest receiving prizes.
The Easter event at Brodick Castle always attracts a huge number of visitors. It marks a welcome re-opening of the castle, gardens, tearoom and shop and the Isle Be Wild play park for the summer season.
