Tickets for this year’s Mull of Kintyre Music Festival (MOKFest) are officially up for grabs – and organisers are delighted with the early sales.
The iconic annual event, which takes place from August 21 to 25, will feature concerts headlined by some of Scotland’s top folk musicians, including Trail West, Dougie MacLean, Katie Macfarlane, Grouse Ceilidh Band, The Canny Band and The Sarachs, as well as home-grown talent in the form of Slainte Davaar Allstars and Kintyre Schools Pipe Band (KSPB).
The Saturday of the event is packed full of free events, kicking off with the festival parade, which will be led by KSPB through the streets of Campbeltown to Kinloch Green. The band will then open the hugely popular Doon the Green event, which starts at 1pm.
Also starting at 1pm is the mega session in the festival club, which will be staged in The Kilbrannan Bar, with a host of local and visiting musicians.
This year’s Doon the Green will have a wide selection of music and fun activities for all the family, with live music from Tommy and Stewart Blue, as well as KSPB – plus organisers say they have a surprise main band performing this year who are yet to be announced.
There will also be entertainment from Funky Chicken Fun, James McCorkindale School of Highland Dance, SG Taekwon-Do Scottish Highlands and Footnotes.
An event spokesperson said: "There will be an area set aside for community stands and stalls so please contact the festival at mokfest@hotmail.co.uk to book your stalls. People can also contact the same email if they wish to take part in the parade.
“As usual, there will be live music inside and outside many bars and hotels across the town.”
The festival has seven ticketed concerts across five nights – tickets for ALL concerts are available online at www.mokfest.com or locally from AP Taylor on Campbeltown’s Main Street.
