Jean Ainsley all aboard in the Arctic, ready to take on the ice bucket challenge for Oban lifeboat

Chillin' out on holiday in the Arctic looks set to have more of a freeze factor for Seil woman Jean Ainsley.

Jean, who is on Oban lifeboat’s fundraising committee, pledged to go under an ice bucket scooped fresh from the frozen waters - if supporters come up with £750 on her Justgiving page.

If the online appeal gets to goal, Jean will bravely take up the challenge during her adventure break in icy conditions at the top of Norway.

Keen photographer Jean is on a wildlife cruise and is hoping to catch a polar bear on camera while on holiday in the polar region. Jean’s images have been featured in a number of fundraising calendars before, and 2026 might see another one on its way for the RNLI.

"The ice bucket seemed a fitting challenge considering the location. There will be plenty of ice about!" she said.
