Anam Cara Fasgadh was started in 2018 by four friends united by a passion for supporting families affected by the death of a baby, child or young person. Their aim is to fund and provide respite accommodation for anyone affected by such a loss and in 2022 they were delighted to refurbish and open Poppy’s Place, a comfortable caravan at award-winning Tralee Bay Holidays on the west coast.
Last year was Anam Cara Fasgadh’s first butterfly release.
Susan said: "It was a truly poignant event, bringing more than 50 of us together to remember the baby, child or young person whom we could not watch grow up.
"Though these butterflies look fragile, they are incredibly strong and resilient because they migrate to North Africa every autumn. That reminds us of what each bereaved family goes through - the fragility of a broken heart but the strength that bereaved families find to keep living without their child."
