Happy Leap Year birthday to Oban octogenarian Murdo MacLean - who is celebrating two special landmarks today.
The former hydro worker will be marking turning 80 and 20 with pals at Aulay’s pub, where he says he supped his first legal pint eight years ago ’at the age of 18’ - even though he was really 72.
The great-granddad says missing birthdays has never been a worry but he is already looking forward to being 21 - in four years time.
"I’ve got plenty of time to plan the party," said Murdo, who loves a bit of fun.
Born in Glasgow and raised on Rasaay, he came to the mainland to work on the hydro at Kilchrenan first of all, then moved about before finishing up at Cruachan.
He moved from Lochawe to Oban when his daughter Margo and son Duncan, who had followed in his footsteps to work at the hydro, flew the nest.
A family meal is on the cards for Murdo, who has been summoned to Aulay’s today for cake and a celebratory pint - or two!
