Delays in ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne’s annual overhaul programme will affect two Mallaig routes in April and May.
Redeployment of vessels caused by the delays will see the Mallaig-Armadale service reduced by more than half - down to four daily return sailings, with three on Sunday - between April 14 and May 11.
Connections between Mallaig and Lochboisdale in South Uist will skip the Lochaber port altogether and instead connect to Oban from April 14 to May 10.
Disruption to Mallaig’s services are part of a complex vessel rotation while the MV Finlaggan, which usually operates between Kennacraig and Islay, is temporarily out of service.
The rotation will see the usual Lochboisdale-Mallaig ferry, MV Lord of the Isles, head to Islay, with the MV Isle of Mull, which operates the Oban-Craignure route, picking up the Lochboisdale stop.
A need to support the Oban-Craignure route means the Mallaig-Armadale route will again give up one of its boats, the MV Coruisk, repeating a move undertaken from March 29 to April 4.
This will once more leave the MV Loch Fyne to manage journeys between Lochaber and Skye by itself.
The loss of the Finlaggan will also affect the Oban to Barra route, with earlier sailings.
