Alleged drug offences and drink driving were among the incidents reported by Oban police this week.
Caught with drugs
At 5pm on Sunday April 7, on George Street, Oban, officers stopped a vehicle and searched it and the occupants under Misuse of Drugs Act powers. A 24-year-old man was found in possession of 0.6g of cannabis. He was offered and accepted a recorded warning.
A 41-year-old woman was found in possession of two Valium tablets when police stopped and searched a vehicle under the Misuse of Drugs Act on the A816, Oban, at 5pm on Sunday April 7. The woman was offered and accepted a recorded police warning.
Drink driving
At 7pm on Sunday April 7, on the A85 near Muckairn Bridge, police stopped a black Peugeot Partner van, following a report of a suspected drink driver.
The male driver, 47, was requested to take a roadside breath test, which he allegedly failed. The man was arrested and taken to Oban Police Station where further evidential samples were obtained, which were also allegedly above the legal limits. The man has been charged with the offence detailed and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Driving whilst unfit.
Police were also called to a report of a potential drink driver who had crashed their car into a tree on the A85, east of Connel, at 11.30pm on Sunday April 7.
On attendance, the male driver of the vehicle was identified and allegedly presented as if heavily intoxicated.
The man, 43, was arrested and taken to hospital where, it is alleged, the man abused officers and assaulted them by spitting on them. Evidential blood samples were obtained and have been sent off for review and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Domestic abuse
During the past week, in Oban, Lorn and the Isles, Police Scotland received one assault and one threatening and abusive behaviour report. This led to two men being arrested. One man was charged with the offence and held to appear before the next available court; the other was released without charge as there was insufficient evidence.
A spokesperson said: "Police Scotland remains committed to reducing domestic abuse. Should you be impacted, or know someone who is, contact police on 999, if the person is at immediate risk, otherwise go to your local station, phone police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
