Who wouldn’t want their own island paradise a stone’s throw from home?
Well, Sanda Island could be yours for a cool £2.5 million.
The island off Kintyre’s south coast, which was once owned by 1960s rock band Cream’s frontman Jack Bruce, is on the market for offers over £2.5 million.
Complete with its own helipad, pub and seven houses, the island spans across 453.70 acres and reaches a high point of about 23 metres above sea level.
It also boasts a pier, a slipway, a lochan and several sandy beaches, and is a haven for wildlife including colonies of puffin, storm petrel, razorbill, Manx shearwater, kittiwake, guillemot, great black-backed gull, fulmar, cormorant, shag and black guilliemot.
Sanda also has a small in-hand farm that is currently home to 55 Blackface sheep.
“The island has seven residential properties, with four based at the northern end of the island and three next to the lighthouse at the southern end,” said selling agents Knight Frank.
“In total, 14 people can be accommodated at the northern end and 12 at the southern end of the island. The majority of the houses have been renovated by the current owners including installation of new double glazing, new shower rooms in the cottages benefitting from underfloor electric heating.”
From the island’s main slipway, there are wonderful views towards the smaller islands of Sheep (31.72 acres) and Glunimore (4.41 acres), both of which are included in the sale.
