What an amazing day the people of Inveraray had on Saturday - and visitors to the Royal Burgh too.
The sun had his hat on and there was a proper buzz of celebration as well-known townsman DJ MacDonald cut the ribbon to re-open the iconic stone pier which is so much a prominent part of the town’s vista
.
A ribbon, by the way, which DJ insisted be yellow and black in honour of his favourite team - Inveraray Shinty Club, of course.
The town has waited such a long time to be able to finally open the pier up to the public again - 10 years!
And if it was not for the determination, hard work and perseverance of those behind both Inspire Inveraray, the town’s development organisation, and Inveraray Community Council, as well as the generosity of Geaspar Byrne in selling the asset to the town, none of it would have been possible.
A huge congraulations and pat on the back to all those involved; although, they will tell you the work is not yet done as they turn their sights to the old wooden pier and the huge amount of funding needed to repair it before it also is safe again.
If anyone can make it happen, though, it is the people of Inveraray.
