With three weeks between the semi-final and final, the hosts put in plenty effort in preparation for this match, knowing that the visitors relied on a powerful pack for most of their scores.
This was to prove exactly how the game went, with the Irvine forwards gaining the upper hand in the early scrums and lineouts. It was from a lineout that their first score came, the pack rolling over the line from within the Lochaber 22.
Further scores from the lineout and scrum following handling errors from Lochaber had the hosts trailing 20-0 at half time, with the Irvine kicker having an off day as he missed every conversion attempt.
Lochaber began the second half much better, driving forward with purpose and playing quicker, which unsettled the visitors and provided a new impetus to the men in yellow and black.
Irvine began to show the experience of a team that, until recently, had been playing at a much higher level in the Scottish rugby league system, nullifying any Lochaber momentum or quick penalties with players frequently down injured, much to the frustration of the home team and support.
Against the run of play, Irvine scored a fifth try with their only backs move of the match.
Following a suspiciously forward pass, they worked the ball well to the left winger who powered over for a 25-0 lead, the conversion attempt again missed.
Lochaber were now playing for pride and finally got on the scoreboard when young Finlay Stewart, playing in his first season of adult rugby, powered over from 10 metres to touch down. With Ryan Davies adding the extras, the score was now 25-7 to Irvine.
Although the visitors were tiring, Lochaber could not gain a foothold in the match.
Irvine used their experience to continually clear their lines and eventually win a penalty, which led to their sixth and final try. Sustained pressure on the Lochaber line and a series of penalties finally paid off, with the conversion missed again.
