Dunaverty Golf Club staged a special tournament to remember late Southend and much-missed member Jock MacVicar.
Jock told the world about Southend and, in particular, his beloved Dunaverty wherever he went during his life as a golf reporter, during which he earned the nickname ‘The Doyen’ for his incredible knowledge of the sport.
A pairs combined Stableford format drew a decent entry but, once again, the weather was the winner with heavy wind on the day and the later players getting wet for the final part of their round.
Winners of this year’s event by four points were Dunaverty members Bob Templeton and Jim Warren who produced a superb combined score of 75 points to take the impressive trophy.
A club spokesperson said: “The club would like to thank everyone who supported the event on the day as their attendance makes these events special for everyone connected to Dunaverty."
Result: 1 Bob Templeton and Jim Warren 75pts, 2 Peter Paterson and Douglas Neilson 71pts, 3 Andrew Henderson and Allan Blair 68pts.
