Children at Craignish Primary School are branching out into tree planting.
The Ardfern youngsters were joined at Monday’s tree planting ceremony by Argyll and Bute’s Lord Lieutenant Jane Macleod.
Two trees were planted with extra help from Iain Saunders of the C3 Committee in Ardfern, who dug the holes.
Head teacher Donna Scholefield said: "Our children all sang two songs and our choir also performed for Jane, Iain and our parents, after which the trees were planted and everybody enjoyed home made cakes courtesy of our school admin assistant Ani Flowers and Lizzie Rose, who is one of our parents.
"It was a lovely school event and everybody had a lot of fun."
More than three million trees were planted across the UK as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and after her death, His Majesty King Charles III extended the project to give people the chance to plant more trees in her memory.
The King put in place a Coronation Trees planting programme where each of the United Kingdom’s 98 Lieutenancy areas would host a specimen tree to mark his coronation.
With Argyll and Bute’s mix of remote, rural and island communities, the Lieutenancy of Argyll and Bute thought that a good approach would be to open it up to as many corners of the area as possible and several aspen saplings were sourced and donated to primary schools.
