The 2024 spring meeting competition was held at Dunaverty Golf Club on Saturday during which players competed to win prizes supplied by the new club captain Willie Ralston.
A large field was depleted by the inclement weather on the day but 29 players still took to the course for the contest.
Early starters enjoyed dry conditions but faced a very strong wind, which howled round the course.
David Hanley, in the first group of the morning, set a high standard with some excellent golf to return a superb gross 68 but was pipped a few groups later by Alistair McConnachie, who continued his fine form to produce a magnificent gross 67 to take the scratch prize.
In the handicap section, past captain Willie Young rose to the occasion returning his best score for a while with a superb nett 61 to take the prize from Stuart McLachlan, who had his best for some time with a nett 63.
“Thanks to captain Willie Ralston for supplying the prizes, to greenkeepers Jonathan Barbour and Campbell MacBrayne for presenting the course in magnificent condition despite some recent horrendous weather and to Moyra Jane Paterson and staff at The Putt Stop for the usual high quality service,” said a club spokesperson.
Result: 1 Willie Young 74-13=61, 2 Stuart McLachlan 77-14=63, 3 David Hanley 68-4=64. Lowest gross: Alistair McConnachie 67.
