The Corran Ferry is out of service once again, as the MV Maid of Glencoul broke down this morning (December 16).
With the MV Corran currently away for its annual refit, the Maid was running services solo.
An announcement was made at 10.30am that service was suspended until further notice due to a "technical problem" on the vessel, which local councillor Andrew Baxter has identified as being in the rear steering system.
The councillor said that verbal assurances from council officers pointed to "a stuck valve", which was "believed to be hydraulic or electrical in nature", and not a software issue.
Staff mobilised quickly to arrange a passenger only service, which began at 1.30pm, following the regular timetable.
Councillor Baxter said: "Engineers have been called out and are expected to be en route to assess the fault, with a view to repairing it as quickly as possible.
