Previous members of the now-defunct Arran Soul Choir are formulating plans to create a new Arran Social Choir after members said they miss the singing and the social aspect of practising together.
The first gathering will take place at Brodick Hall on Thursday May 9, between 7pm and 9pm, and everyone aged over 16 is invited to attend.
The former Arran Soul Choir has not been able to gather since the pandemic and the inspired support of James O’Neil and Andrew Dickie is no longer available as a result of other commitments.
The idea of creating something similar has been discussed for months and the singers have now taken the first steps to create a new choir.
One singer, Michael Gettins, told the Banner: “While it is true singing is good for your health and wellbeing, including memory, posture and breathing, the Social Choir is also a way to meet, chat and sing while having a light-hearted, fun evening.
“The hope is the Social Choir will be a regular feature in the calendar and we can make some noise again.”
Everyone is invited to join the first public gathering where there will be discussion about the choir and the chance to enjoy singing with like-minded people.
