Oban caves and the people who lived in them will be part of an archaeological detective story being told at The Studio at The Corran Halls this Saturday.
The free event, which begins at 2.30pm, is an extra winter lecture being organised by Lorn Archaeological and Historical Society.
Human remains have been turning up in caves in and around Oban since the late 19th century, and these remains, along with the artefacts found in the caves, have had a major influence on the definition of the Middle Stone Age in Scotland.
In this lecture, osteologist Dr Angela Boyle and archaeologist Dr Alison Sheridan take stock of what is known about these fascinating sites and the people buried in them, and tell some of the stories that have been emerging. The lecture will also explore very new research on the DNA found on some of the Oban caves remains.
Although there is free entry, donations will be welcomed.
