An alleged theft and a driver said to be in possession of drugs are just two of the items included in this week’s round-up.
A man reportedly stole a selection of items by hiding them within a grocery bag at 6pm on January 17 at the Tesco Express in Lochgilphead. Officers identified the 21-year-old man involved and subsequently charged him with theft. He was given a recorded police warning.
On January 18, on the A83 outside of Lochgilphead, officers on patrol stopped a vehicle at 6.30pm and searched it and the man within under Misuse of Drugs Act powers. During the course of this search, a cannabis ‘joint’ and 11.7g of the drug were recovered.
The 53-year-old man was given a recorded police warning.
At 2.45am on January 18 at Bridgend on Islay, police were called to a report of a suspected drink driver.
Officers located the vehicle parked at the side of the road with the engine running and the male driver was suspecting to have consumed alcohol, leading to an attempted breath test.
The driver reportedly failed to provide a specimen of breath, leading to his arrest. Subsequently, evidential breath samples were taken at Bowmore Police Station which were allegedly above the legal limit.
A 55-year-old man has since been charged and released on an undertaking to appear in court.
During this past week, for the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands area, Police Scotland received two reports of domestic assault.
This has led to one man and one woman being arrested and charged. They will appear in court at a later date.
A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland remains committed to tackling offenders of domestic abuse and reducing the level of it in our communities. Should you be impacted, or know someone who is, contact Police on 999, if the person is at immediate risk, otherwise come to your local station, phone us on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11."
