Lagg Distillery is the first island business to gain gold accreditation from Think About Plastic (TAP) under its revised accreditation standards.
TAP Arran has revised its accreditation standards to take into account the single use plastic legislation recently introduced by the Scottish Government.
The accreditation is designed to encourage businesses to reduce their plastic footprint and let their customers know what they have achieved.
Helen How, chairperson of TAP Arran, said: “Lagg Distillery is a flagship business on Arran. It thinks about plastic and raises awareness with its staff and visitors.
"Its shop is full of lovely, local, sustainable products and it has made substantial efforts to reduce its use of plastic in its restaurant. It deserves this award, which we hope discerning customers will appreciate.”
Vicki Sturgeon, Lagg visitor experience manager, added: “Our team at Lagg Distillery is delighted to have been the first island business to be awarded the new gold accreditation from Think About Plastic Arran.
"As the winner of Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year in 2023, we place a lot of importance on offering visitors to Lagg a warm welcome to our unspoilt island location.
"An important part of that is being as mindful as we can of our plastic use and making every effort possible to reduce it. It’s important to us to look after our environment and preserve it so that future generations can enjoy visiting our special part of the island.”
