Eight new rapid electric vehicle chargers are in place across Argyll and Bute.
Funding of around £370,000 came via the HiTRANS FASTER project, which is supported by the European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.
This joint project, covering Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, supports the overarching ambition to transition to low-carbon transport systems.
Councillor Peter Wallace, Argyll and Bute Council’s depute policy lead for roads and transport, said: “These are welcome additions to the council’s suite of EV chargers. We are grateful to HiTRANS for installing them.
“Over the past seven years, we have secured close to £1m to install a total of 38 EV chargers. We will continue to source funding and develop our network to help people travel with confidence across the region.
“It’s a challenge, given our geography, but we are committed to reducing carbon emissions and supporting a climate friendly Argyll and Bute and its glorious environment.”
