This was an amazing time as it was Cameron’s first marathon. He was running for Shettleston Harriers.
Congratulations also to Michael and Margaret Ann Matheson, Duirinish, who won the Scotland’s Business Award for Best Holiday Accommodation with Drumossie Hotel on April 21.

The Norwegian cruising ship Spitzbergen called at Plockton on April 15 and crowds came ashore. She can take 335 passengers and has a crew of 65. Weather prevented her from going to St Kilda.
This was probably the largest cruise ship to visit Plockton. She was built in 2009.
Plockton was sorry to hear of the death of Professor Peter Higgs, 94. Ten years ago he visited the village and gave a talk in Plockton Hall, explaining his work leading to the discovery of the particle bearing his name.
He also visited both schools and went on a trip on Calum’s Seal Trip boat. A very modest man, everyone enjoyed his visit. Jane Mackenzie from Plockton was invited to his funeral.
Other recent deaths in the community have been David Johnstone, aged 91, former Plockton High School head master; Ann Ingram (Macdonald), Kyle; and Iain MacColl, a policeman at Kyle before he retired to Fort William.
Sympathy is expressed to sorrowing relatives.
His many friends over a wide area were saddened by the passing of Fergie MacDonald on April 23, a day before his 87th birthday. In the 1960s, Fergie and his band were popular and played many times in Plockton Hall.
Sympathy is expressed to his wife and family.
