It is no secret that Campbeltown has an abundance of artistic talent, with reports about the successes of our bands and groups regularly featuring in our news pages.
We never tire of hearing and seeing these talented people perform but last Saturday’s ‘Campbeltown’s Got Talent’ event provided an opportunity for collaboration that enthralled the crowd.
The evening started strongly with a combined Kintyre Schools Pipe Band and Campbeltown Brass performance and ended even stronger with the addition of the Kintyre Chorale.
This cooperation continued throughout the evening, with Highland dancer Kayla Grumoli joining the pipe band on stage, and band member Taylor McMillan swapping her pipes for her flute during one performance.
Some participants were also part of multiple acts, with several visits to the stage in different guises.
Many of the people who have contributed to Kintyre’s reputation as a creative powerhouse featured in a video montage, including Raymond Gosling, who could not be there on the night as he was hosting Carradale Music Festival which he co-founded aged just 18, adding another attraction to Kintyre’s creative offerings.
The fact that the evening also raised an incredible total for an invaluable Kintyre cancer charity is the icing on the cake.
