Lochgilphead Bowling Club enjoyed a fantastic start to their West Argyll Bowling Assciation League campaign – and are sitting pretty at the top following Saturday’s opener on the Ardrishaig green.
Liz Johnson’s Triple enjoyed a 17-13 victory over hosts Ardrishaig while Colin MacInnes’s team went six up to beat Oban 17-11.
Craig Bruce’s triple narrowly lost out to Tarbert 12-15 giving the Lochgilphead outfit an overall shot advantage of seven to Ardrishaig’s four shots after each winning two games apiece.
Scores on the day were: Rink 1, Ardrishaig 14-12 Tarbert ; Rink 2, Lochgilphead 17-11 Oban; Rink 3 Lochgilphead 17-13 Ardrishaig; Rink 4, Oban 13-11 Tarbert; Rink 5 Ardrishaig 16-10 Oban; Rink 6 Tarbert 15-12 Lochgilphead.
League standings after Week 1: Lochgilphead 4pts +7 shots; 2, Ardrishaig 4pts +4 shots; Tarbert 2pts -1 shot; Oban 2pts -10 shots.
With all four teams picking up points on the day there is all to play for in the coming weeks with the next match taking place on the Lochgilphead green this Saturday May 11.
