Overview

Home-Start Lorn is a family support charity serving Oban, North Argyll and the Isle of Mull since 1988.

The organisation provides free, compassionate support to parents and carers of children under five through a combination of one-to-one volunteer visiting, professional worker support and community group activities. Families facing challenges like isolation, postnatal stress, illness, bereavement or parenting struggles can access tailored practical help and emotional support designed to build confidence and resilience.

Volunteers are carefully trained and undergo safeguarding checks to ensure safe, non-judgemental support in the home. Group sessions, including play, peer support and wellbeing activities, help families connect and thrive together.

Funded through grants, donations and community fundraising, Home-Start Lorn emphasises long-term wellbeing by empowering families and strengthening community ties across its rural service area.
