A local teenager will enter the wrestling ring in her home region later this month, after earning a shot at the CPW Women’s Championship.
Iona Sky will take on champion Ellie Armstrong and Nicole Jasmin in a Triple Threat match at Ardrishaig Public Hall on March 31.
Iona from Clachan and a former pupil at Tarbert Academy has been wrestling across Scotland for various promotions and has worked really hard to earn the right to challenge for this prestigious title.
Iona told us: “Ellie Armstrong and Nicole Jasmin are two of the top female talents in the UK right now and it is going to be a tough ask to get the title, but I’m going after it and can’t wait to get out in front of a home audience and do Argyll proud.
"There are so many great matches on the card, it will be an incredible event!”
CPW is the brainchild of wrestling and TikTok sensation Ravie Davie. Davie has built the company from scratch and made it the fastest growing Wrestling Promotion in the UK.
He has also built a wrestling school in Govan in Glasgow and is doing some amazing work in his community as well as taking his wrestling shows on tour across Scotland.
Davie said: “I started wrestling around eight years ago. Wrestling saved my life and now I’m trying to do the same for others.
"Community Pro Wrestling coming to Ardrishaig for the first time has got myself and the crew very excited. It’s always good to do a new town and bring what we do at CPW to a new audience. Ardrishaig is a place that we are very excited about.
"At CPW we pride ourselves in bringing the best action-packed, family-friendly entertainment at affordable prices. You can expect all the hard-hitting, high flying that you would see in the big wrestling companies like WWE and AEW, but with a Scottish twist.”
The show is a collaboration with West Kintyre Promotions CIC and their spokesperson said: “We had CPW in Tarbert in October and it was a great show. Other wrestling promotions have come to Mid Argyll or Kintyre in the past and it’s been a smaller roster and the same guys wrestling twice on the show, but when we have put wrestling shows on we have always been keen to go a bit extra.
"So on this show there will be three belts on the line, including the CPW and the OTT Championships and the CPW Womens Championship.
"There will be tag team matches, singles matches and six-man tag action. To have someone like Sammy D coming over from Ireland to defend his OTT title is just brilliant. Plus all the kids get a free Easter Egg!
"We want to make this a twice-a-year event between Ardrishaig and Tarbert where we can build from one show to the next but we need an audience, please come along and have a wild night out with CPW!”
Tickets for the show are on sale now at Skiddle.com priced £10 or £36 for a family of four. There is a special VIP ticket available at £15 which includes, early entry, meet and greet, and a special bonus match pre show.
Doors open at 5pm, with VIP doors at 4.30pm.
