Oban’s Rockfield Centre has announced exciting new plans for a sensory room, recording studio, outdoor performance area and to turn its bike sheds into a traditional skills work hub. But to do this the centre needs to sell £1oo,000 in community bonds by the end of September, having already secured £100,000.

Oban Hospice Limited has also revealed that it plans to move to larger premises - the old Oban Electrical Services building on Stevenson Street - with work on the refurbishment and redesign of the new premises planned to start early next year.
On Friday Oban Pride will kick-off with a ceilidh, with the Pride march on Saturday, and a community stall village and rainbow café just some of the events taking place over this weekend.
Elsewhere, a new hydro plant between Loch Awe and Inveraray could generate 700 jobs, with Intelligent Land Investments launching proposals to build a 1.5 gigawatt storage facility.

The Scottish Government’s Transport Minister also met with Mull islanders to discuss the ferry issues they have experienced. Islanders told Fiona Hyslop MSP that "the reputational damage" caused by cancellations and a "botched" new ticketing system has had a "major impact" on Mull and Iona businesses.
In Oban, the spirits of spectators at the annual Oban Games were not dampened by the wet weather and the Oban High School games enjoyed a fantastic turnout the next day.
