Oban and Lorne Strathspey and Reel Society has celebrated its 79th Annual Fiddlers Rally Concert.
Piper Lily Robertson kicked off the evening outside the hall rounding up her selection once everyone was seated with a top tapping set of marches at the event in Oban Parish Church.
This year there were two Musical Directors, Helen Jordan and Kathryn Wilkie, who guided performances of a fine selection of both well known traditional Scottish music and also newer tunes composed by more modern Scots musicians.
Seamlessly switching between conductor and player, they each got a turn to share their fiddling talent as well as keeping the other 36 players in control.
From Strathspeys, Marches, Reels and Jigs to which the audience clapped along, there was not a dry eye in the house with the beautiful rendition of the Gaelic Airs.
The Oban players were joined by musicians from all over Scotland including members of Societies in the Borders, Cowal, Dunkeld, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow, Lochaber, Skye and Thurso.
"Bean an Taighe, Moira Dunlop, kept the evening flowing smoothly. Guest Artist Calum MacColl, 2021 Mod gold medal winner, fondly known as the singing weatherman, having predicted fine weather for the day not only delighted us with his singing and a couple of tunes on the squeeze box - we also learnt a good few meteorological terms!" reported Helen Jordan.
Plans are now afoot for the 2027 concert, the 80th Fiddlers Rally, which will be held on Saturday April 24.
"We are now taking a break from our weekly rehearsals and look forward to meeting again on Thursday September 3. We always welcome new members of any ability," added Helen.
