Take a journey through Hebridean seas with this new adventure book for youngsters written by Mull wildlife guide Ewan Miles, featuring a local celebrity.
Out in paperback in March, Knobble The Minke Whale is packed with fascinating fanks after its author was inspired by his own whale-watching trips.
Knobble the Minke Whale in real-life is a frequently spotted character, since about 2002, off Mull - identified by the ’knobbly nubbin’ on its dorsal fin.
The whale already has a dedicated Facebook page with more than 600 followers and even a YouTube song inspired by it.
Although data about its habits comes from sightings by wild;life guides and from the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust, its sex and winter whereabouts remain unknown.
The 32-page book, illustrated by zoology graduate Megan Francis, is a fun way for children and adults to find out more about Minkes and meet some of their friends including Common Dolphins, seabirds and Basking Sharks.
Together Ewan and Megan bring Knobble’s remarkable story to life.
Ecologist Ewan who started his Nature Scotland wildlife tours and surveys business in 2015 and has a BSc in Environmental Science, is also British Trust Ornithology Regional Rep for North Argyll and is Mull’s official Bird Recorder.
Knobble The Whale is priced at £7.99 and its publication date is March 19.
