Saturday 27th September sees the Springbank Invitational Piping Competition being held in the Argyll Arms Hotel Campbeltown.

Judges on the day will be John Wilson, Dr Angus MacDonald and Robert Barnes
Eight of the world’s leading Pipers will compete in four disciplines a 6/8 March, Piobaireachd, March Strathspey and Reel and Hornpipe and Jig.
The 6/8 March which is sponsored by McFadyen’s Transport Ltd will be the opening competition. The Pipers will have been given a choice of three 6/8’s composed by a local Piper and will pick one of the three to play.
Next will be Piobaireachd with the Pipers supplying six Piobaireachds of their own choice, these will be given to one of the Judges who will choose one for the piper to play on the day.
The next competition will be MSR again the Pipers will supply four Marches four Strathspey’s and four Reel’s and a Judge will pick two of each for the piper to play.
The last competition of the day will be the Hornpipe and Jig with the pipers supplying two of each and again a judge picking one of each for the piper to play.
The prizegiving will have Springbank Distillers Sales Director Ranald Watson and McFadyens Transport Ltd Mrs Heather McFadyen presenting the prizes.
