Mànran and The Oban Times can announce we are running a competition for two pairs of tickets for the group’s Corran Halls performance on New Year’s Day.
The band, who are famous for their combination of English and Gaelic lyrics alongside an array of instruments, will take to the stage at 8pm on January 1.
South Uist singer, Ruairidh Gray, will perform before the band and will be coming straight from BBC Alba’s Hogmanay celebrations.
Founding member of the group, Gary Innes, said: “We’re really looking forward to it — it’s always an amazing place to play, and it’s a great time of year as well.
“We’re doing a run of shows beforehand. I actually stay in Taynuilt, just along the road, so it always feels a bit like a home gig for me, which is nice.
“It’s a great way to start the new year — have a big party.”
This year has marked the group’s 15th anniversary, and alongside releasing their new album To The Wind, the band have just returned from a three week tour of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Gary also confirmed that Oban High School’s pipe band will join the group on stage at Hoolie in the Hydro – a celebration of Scottish traditional music taking place in Glasgow on December 13th.
He added: “They joined us at Carnegie Hall earlier this year, which was amazing.
“It feels great to be able to play a proper show in Oban as well, when people from Oban have been travelling all over to see us — it’s nice to come home.”
