At 7.30pm on Monday June 17, on the A83 at Lochgilphead, police stopped a Toyota Hilux due to the way it was being driven.
Police spoke to the driver who allegedly appeared intoxicated through an unknown substance. Checks on the vehicle allegedly showed it to have no insurance, tax or MOT. The officers then searched the man and the vehicle under the Misuse of Drugs Act, allegedly finding 4.8g of cannabis and 3.7g of Cocaine. The 43-year-old man was arrested and, after allegedly refusing to be tested for drug driving, he was charged with the offences detailed and the car was seized.
Police on patrol had cause to stop a vehicle on the A83 at Furnace during a routine check on Tuesday June 18 at 3.40pm. The 24-year-old male driver was charged at the roadside for having no insurance in place to drive the car and no applicable licence. The 25-year-old male passenger, who was the owner of the vehicle, was charged for causing and permitting the other man’s offences by allegedly permitting him to drive. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
During this past week Police Scotland received one report of Threatening & Abusive Behaviour, one report of Vandalism and one report of breach of bail for the Mid Argyll, Kintyre & the Isles area. This led to two men being arrested and both were held to present before the courts. The other investigation is ongoing.
