An Arran woman has been named as the freelance makeup specialist of the year at the prestigious Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.
Colleen Davidson also won the hair and makeup specialist of the year in 2022 and was a finalist in the specialist of the year title too.
She was presented with her awards at a glitzy awards dinner held at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow.
Speaking about her success, Colleen, who now lives in Milngavie with her husband and family, said: “I am unbelievably honoured to have not only been awarded freelance makeup artist of the year for 2023 but also highly commended in the freelance hair and makeup artist of the year. My 2022 win was amazing, so to have been recognised again in both categories in 2023 was wonderful, and then to come away with not one but two awards was another level.
“There were a huge number of highly skilled and talented individuals from all over the country, so be chosen as the winner thanks to votes from my clients, as well as the final decision from the judging panel, is such an honour.”
A spokesperson from the event said: “Winning an award in this prestigious competition is a significant achievement, as it acknowledges the talent and hard work of hair and beauty professionals and sets a benchmark for others to follow.
“We have celebrated the finest professionals and businesses, recognising the creativity, innovation,
and exceptional service that have become synonymous with this beloved industry. Congratulations
to all the winners on their incredible accomplishments”.
Colleen is also in the running for another honour as the freelance wedding hair/makeup specialist of the year for the Glasgow region at the Scottish Wedding Awards.
She said: “I am delighted to have been considered amongst some other incredible wedding suppliers in my first wedding awards this year, and I’m looking forward to being able to celebrate with friends and colleagues in the industry at the award dinner, which will be held at the start of March”.
Colleen completed all of her primary and secondary schooling on Arran and her family still live in Lamlash. She specialises in bridal and occasion makeup.
