Plockton correspondent Charlie MacRae.
Among the items discussed were:
1, Causeway and path to Brae - There was no progress on these items.
2, Benches - New benches are now in place in Barleyport and Achnahinich.
3, Harbour Street - Councillor Biz Campbell noted the awful state of Harbour Street, Plockton. Residents can complain to highland council on its website (
www.highland.gov.uk/) or phone 01349866601.
4, Welcome to Plockton sign - After the houses at Burnside were built, Highland Council promised to move the sign to include Burnside but sadly it still hasn’t been moved.
5, Visit of yacht - Plockton Harbour Chairman Jimmy Fergusson informed the meeting that a yacht was due to visit plockton between June 20-23 as part of a circumnavigation of the UK to raise funds for children in need. The harbours association will co-ordinate this small event. He also told the meeting that there has been an enquiry for two small cruise liners to visit Plockton at different times but difficulty in having a proper area for a coach to pick passengers up would be a stumbling block.
6, Plockton Primary School - This is presently located at the high school and the CC have received no consultation as to when this may be resolved.
7, Seawall - The long awaited structural engineers report on the seawall is still awaited.
8, Coral Beach - The application for funding for a car park had been turned down.
Next meeting will be at 7pm on Monday May 18 which will be the AGM followed by a CC meeting at 7:30 pm.
