Stories of extreme courage, battles through adversity and acts of altruism always grab our attention here at the Lochaber Times.
And this week is no different.
We have reported on the fortunes of Fort William man Davy Duncan since he contracted Covid in Mexico in 2021.
Davy spent 13 months in hospital and requires round the clock care for all personal needs. As a result of the damage to the brain, he now has epilepsy and has suffered a series of strokes over the past few years.
Nevertheless, he has thrown himself into various challenges and life events over this time, also keeping his cheerful demeanour and can-do attitude in the process.
In 2023 Davy and Helen found out about Scottish Charity The Oxygen Works through an old school pal, Angela (who has sadly passed away since), and attended the hyperbaric chamber and neuro physio within.
Staff and visitors alike were super friendly and supportive and for Davy a visit to the facility quickly became a highlight of the week.
In September this year he, along with his wife Helen, will attempt one of his biggest challenges yet - the Loch Ness Marathon - to raise money for the facility.
We wish the couple all the very best in their endeavour and look forward to reporting on many more of Davy’s adventures in the future.
