Thirteen-year-old golfer Harry Stewart is quickly emerging as one of Scotland’s most exciting young talents after a remarkable 2025 season that saw his handicap tumble from 10.9 to 2.7.
In recognition of his achievement Fort William Golf Club (Club Captain Sinclair Gunn) has kindly donated £500 to assist Harry with his 2026 season.
With the increased travel and multi-day competitions required from their remote location, this support from his home club is a huge boost.
The Fort William youngster enjoyed a breakthrough year packed with silverware, standout performances and national recognition.
Among his biggest achievements was being crowned Junior Club Champion (U18) at Fort William Golf Club - firing a stunning gross 65 (-3) to claim the title.
He also secured the club’s Junior League Championship, underlining his growing dominance at local level.
On the national stage Harry made a strong impact in the prestigious Faldo Series, winning both the Futures Local and Regional titles before finishing 24th at the UK Grand Final at The Belfry against the UK’s top young players.
His consistency was further demonstrated with a runner-up finish in the Scottish Golf North Junior Matchplay U15s at Forres Golf Club and a ninth-place gross finish in the Under-15 Order of Merit run by the Stephen Gallacher Foundation.
He also gained valuable experience at national championship level - finishing mid-field at the Scottish Golf U14s Open Championship.
Harry trains privately with David Torrance at the David Torrance Golf Academy in Forres and is part of the Scottish Golf North winter programme, committing to weekly sessions throughout the off-season.
The dedication is clearly paying off with an eight-shot handicap reduction in just one year.
Now, attention turns to an ambitious 2026 schedule that will see him step up into bigger fields and multi-day competitions.
"I’m really looking forward to the season starting and playing in bigger junior events and competing over two and three day competitions in 2026," said Harry.
"It’s not a bad place to start with the Forres Junior Open on Friday April 3 followed by a Junior Tour event at Royal Dornoch on Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5."
Harry will tee it up at Forres Golf Club for the Junior Open before heading to the renowned Royal Dornoch Golf Club as he begins a season focused on development, exposure, and progress.
He is targeting a series of high-level Tier 1 events, including SGF World Amateur Golf Ranking tournaments and the Scottish Golf U14 Open Championship.
Alongside these Harry plans to compete in selected Junior Tour and SGF Under-15 Order of Merit events to build competitive sharpness while continuing to support competitions at Fort William Golf Club, including the adult gross 2026 club championship for the first time over four rounds.
"I would like to thank all of my sponsors for their fantastic support throughout the season," he added.
"Their backing has played an important role in helping me travel, train and compete at a higher level and I am extremely grateful for their continued encouragement."
With strong support from his coaches, family and sponsors and a clear performance pathway in place Harry Stewart’s trajectory is firmly upward.
If 2025 was his breakthrough year 2026 promises to be another exciting chapter in his golfing journey.
