The first round of the Grampian Athletics League was held at the Bught Stadium in Inverness.
The Lochaber Athletic Club junior team ran well, with the under 12 boys’ team finishing in 2nd place and the under 16 girls in 3rd place.
Iona Rodgers was well placed in the 100 metres and won her 800m with a strong tactical run and a large winning margin.
Rory Pratt was 3rd in the shot putt and Grayson Jeffrey was 3rd in the long jump.
Both under 12s also ran well in the 100m and 800m, and completed the afternoon by joining their Moray teammates to take 2nd place in the 4 x 100m relay.
Ashleigh Irvine and Grace MacMaster took 3rd places in the under 16 A and B 100m events and were 2nd and 3rd in the 300m.
Carys Rodgers was 3rd in both the 800m and the shot putt.
The under 16 girls competed in the unusual 4 x 200m relay, taking 3rd place in windy and wet conditions.


David Rodgers, in the under 18 men’s race, ran a hard 1500m with the lead changing hands, David dipped his head to narrowly take the win.
He followed this with a 2nd place in the 400m.
The next and final round in the North section of the league will be on 10 May.
A return to outdoor training on Thursday 23 April at Claggan Park from 6pm should help sharpen performances.
