The court in Campbeltown has a new sheriff.
Euan Cameron was formally introduced at Campbeltown Sheriff Court last Friday.
The traditional ceremony was attended by HM Lord Lieutenant for Argyll and Bute Jane MacLeod and Sheriff Principal of North Strathclyde Sean Murphy KC.
Sheriff Cameron informed the Sheriff Principal he had a warrant from HM the King appointing him to be a sheriff.
He then handed over the Royal Commission to him for the Sheriff Principal to then pass to Sheriff Clerk Louise Taylor, before asking her to read the document aloud to the court and to see it recorded in the Books of Court.
This was followed by welcome speeches from the Sheriff Principal, Dean of Faculty of Campbeltown Solicitors Stephen MacSporran and the area procurator fiscal Peter McClellan.
In his reply and thanks, Sheriff Cameron praised the hard work and commitment of the “excellent” staff at the Campbeltown court.
