Connel Bridge is to be closed for roadworks.
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential resurfacing on the approaches to Connel Bridge on the A828, with works set to begin on the night of May 18.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 10pm and 6am each night and are due to be completed by the morning of Sunday May 24.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, Connel Bridge will be closed from 10pm to 6am each night with amnesties provided at 12am, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to pass through the work site.
A diversion route suitable for trunk road traffic will also be signposted from south Connel to north Connel via the A82, A85, A828 adding an estimated 90 miles and 2 hours and 15 minutes to journey time for those using the full diversion.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland’s North West Bridge Manager, said: “This surfacing project on the bridge will help address defects and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.
“The works have been planned overnight to minimise disruption to road users as far as possible. Our teams will do all they can to complete the works efficiently and safely.
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
