Fort William and Ardnamurchan voters have put their faith in Kinlochleven resident Matthew Prosser to represent their ward.
Voters went to the poll yesterday (Thursday December 11) and the by-election count was held this morning and relayed live on the Council’s social media channels.
Matthew, Scottish Liberal Democrats, was one of six candidates who contested the Ward 21 vacancy previously filled by Sarah Fanet who stood down earlier this year.
Voting was by the single transferable vote and Matthew emerged as the winner at stage five of the count.
The turnout was 25.9%.
Ward 21 is a four-member ward and Matthew will join fellow members Councillors Andrew Baxter, Thomas MacLennan and Kate Willis.
