Oban’s home of pre-loved luxury
When you step in Jackie Kerr’s latest venture, adding to her popular Button Nose Gift Boutique, it feels like an upscale shop in Edinburgh or London, but with a hometown welcome. It’s an oasis of style, with decorative touches like chic local art, lavish framed mirrors and stylish display cabinets sparkling with fashionable goodies. Customers absolutely love the huge changing room, with plush furniture — and even a spot for him to sit and relax.
The rack of elegant evening wear (just the thing for upcoming Christmas jingles!) may be first to catch your eye, but a turn around Time & Again reveals something for every day — and night — of the week.
Think dresses. Formal, workwear, mother of the bride, weekend dresses, in a wide range of sizes and styles from 8 to 24. Casual wear such as jeans, trousers, jumpers and blouses and outwear like winter coats and jackets, not forgetting shoes for all occasions. Finish off with hats, handbags, scarves and jewellery and you will be the best garbed wherever you go this season.
And the not so best kept secret behind all these gorgeous clothes? They are gently second hand, costing a fraction of retail price for names like Ted Baker, Laura Ashley, Carmen Melero, DKNY, Guess, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Ugg, Osprey and much more.
From sustainability trendsetters like Cate Blanchett and Helen Mirren to the average person who likes designer looks but doesn’t have a designer budget, the world is embracing second hand. But that doesn’t mean you have to rummage through charity shop racks for that rare gem. So many of us buy something special, only to never even take off the tags, or wear it only once. What to do with clothes that deserve to be worn again? The clothing agency model is the perfect solution.

Making the cut
Jackie is keen to get across that Time & Again is NOT a charity shop, but a clothing agency. The intake process is highly selective in order to maintain her carefully curated collection.
“We specialise in high-end designer clothing, from, say, Phase Eight and up, and only select items in immaculate condition. Pieces must be either new with tags attached or have been worn with exceptional care,” she explained.
She works with the seller to come to a price they are happy with. When she sells the item, she immediately pays, minus her 40 per cent commission, which is lower than most similar shops.
“We ask prospective sellers to first check our Facebook page, where we announce when we are accepting items and what we are specifically seeking,” Jackie said. “If your items match our needs, please send us photographs for initial approval. We then arrange an in-person appointment for a final inspection before accepting them. Every transaction is completely confidential, ensuring privacy for both our sellers and buyers.”
Jackie and the girls invite you to drop in Time & Again at 4 MacGregor Court for a browse Tuesday to Friday 10-5, Saturday 10-4 (closed Sunday and Monday). And be sure to follow on social media to keep in the loop on the latest hot pieces in the shop.
“I get a lot of pleasure out of people coming in, finding something they absolutely love and looking a million dollars for a fraction of the price,” Jackie shared. “And then I also have the pleasure of phoning the person that it belonged to and being able to pay them. Everybody wins.”
