The opportunity to learn new skills and to take part in social events was on offer at the Christmas meeting of Arran u3a.
The festive meeting took place in Brodick Hall and included a number of musical performances from some of the interest groups.
Aimed at anyone who is no longer working full time and would like to participate in social, creative, active and learning interest groups, Arran u3a usually meet on the last Thursday of the month.
The Christmas meeting, along with the musical performances from the skiffle, recorder and ukulele groups, included a display of work from the photovision group, a Christmas quiz, and social opportunities with mince pies, tea, coffee and biscuits.
Additionally, the writing group launched its anthology of stories in a book called ’How I became a sailor in three lessons and other stories’. The book features stories from nine contributors and the photographs used were supplied by the photography group.
’How I became a sailor in three lessons and other stories’ is available to purchase from Amazon in paperback format and is free of charge in Kindle format for a limited time.

Arran u3a has over 170 members who take part in more than 22 interest groups which cover a broad range of subjects and hobbies; from languages, photography, walking, technology, lunch, history, board games, and writing to music and genealogy.
